This privacy policy describes how Nobuo Miura (“the developer”) handles information in the iOS and iPadOS app Hic Fui (“the app”).
The developer does not collect, store, or use the visits, places, and trips you record in the app.
1. Information the app handles
The app handles the following information that you record:
- Places you visit (name, address, country, latitude and longitude, time zone, category, and so on)
- Visits (date and time, notes)
- Trips (name, dates, notes)
2. Where your information is stored
This information is stored only on your device and in your own iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit private database). iCloud storage is used to sync your data across devices signed in to the same Apple Account, and is managed under Apple’s privacy policy.
The developer cannot view or access data stored in your iCloud account.
3. Data collection by the developer
The app does not send your information to the developer’s servers. For information sent to Apple’s services when you use maps or search for places, see section 5. The app contains no account registration, advertising, analytics, or tracking.
4. Location
The app uses your location only while you are using it, and only to find nearby places when you check in and to show where you are on the map. The app asks for permission the first time you open Check In or tap the current location button on a map.
Your location is never sent to the developer. The latitude and longitude of places you record are saved as part of your records in the storage described above.
You can change location access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security > Location Services. Without location access, you can still record visits by choosing a place on the map or adding a past visit.
5. Apple Maps services (MapKit)
The app uses Apple’s MapKit to display maps, search for nearby places or places by name, and look up addresses and countries. When you search for places or the app looks up an address or country, your location or search terms are sent to Apple’s services.
This information is handled under Apple’s privacy policy and is not received by the developer.
6. In-app purchases (tips)
The tips in Settings are three optional consumable in-app purchases for supporting development. Tipping does not unlock additional features.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. The developer does not receive your name or payment information.
7. Exported files
Backup (JSON) and CSV files are files you export and manage yourself. They are shared only with the destination you choose, and their handling after that is subject to the terms of that destination.
8. Crash reports
If you have enabled “Share With App Developers” in your device settings, Apple may provide the developer with information about app performance and crashes. This information is provided by Apple and does not identify you. The developer uses it only to fix problems.
9. Information you send when contacting us
Your email address and the content of your inquiry are used only to respond to you and to investigate problems, and are never provided to third parties. They are deleted once they are no longer needed after your inquiry has been resolved.
10. Data retention
The visits, places, and trips you record are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account until you delete them. There is no time limit.
When all visits to a place are deleted, the place is not removed immediately, so that no records are lost while syncing with your other devices. It is deleted on an app launch after at least 30 days have passed.
When you merge a place into another place, the original place is kept to keep syncing consistent across your devices. It no longer appears on maps or in lists, and is deleted along with everything else when you use Delete All Data.
Backup (JSON) and CSV files you export are not deleted when you delete data in the app. Please delete them yourself when you no longer need them.
11. Deleting your data
Delete All Data in the app’s Settings screen deletes all visits, places, and trips from this device, iCloud, and your other synced devices. Data added on other devices that hasn’t synced to this device yet is not deleted.
Deleting the app also removes its app data from your device. Data stored in iCloud can be deleted from iCloud storage management under your Apple Account in the iOS Settings app.
12. Country border data
Country borders on the world map use public domain data from Natural Earth. This data is included in the app, and no network connection is used to display it.
13. Changes to this policy
Any changes to this policy will be posted on this page and take effect when posted.
